SOKOMETRI — Mushroom Recognition App Design

Sokomeri is a safety-focused mushroom identification platform designed for foragers of all experience levels. The goal of the project was to create a reliable, intuitive, and visually clear experience that helps users identify mushrooms, understand potential risks, and make safer decisions in nature.

This case study explores the full design process—from early research to high-fidelity prototyping—based on real user insights from 34 survey responses. The findings revealed a strong need for trustworthy information, expert validation, and an easy way to compare species in real-world environments.

Sokomeri addresses these needs through an AI-powered identification flow, a community-enhanced knowledge system, and a clean, nature-inspired interface. The platform empowers users to scan mushrooms from multiple angles, explore detailed species descriptions, check toxicity warnings, save locations, and consult experienced mycologists directly through the app.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful UX research, clear information architecture, and accessible UI design can enhance safety and confidence for anyone navigating the world of mushroom foraging.
